The following table will help you choose the correct binding for your new skate ski based on your boot and performance level. Your binding must match the sole of your ski boot, but any modern binding can be mounted on any ski either directly or by using a mounting plate. Skis that require a mounting plate will have the cost of the plate and labor included in the price when selecting your binding.

Pilot Carbon RS
We recommend the Pilot Carbon RS to most racers on SNS Pilot system boots and flat topped skis. Due to a slight amount of toe lift on the RS variant, some skiers may prefer the RS2 variant.
Xcelerator 'SSR' Super Skate Race
The Xcelerator Super Skate Race binding features 4mm of forefoot lift which can provide a ski with additional acceleration, but may be too extreme for many skiers. We recommend the "SSR" only to high level racers on NNN system boots who have previous experience with it.
Pilot Carbon RS2
With an added heel plate and wider platform to differentiate it from the RS variant, we recommend the Pilot Carbon RS2 to racers on SNS Pilot system boots with NIS skis or who wish to have additional stability.
Rottefella's standard skate binding, we recommend the Xcelerator Skate to all racers on NNN system boots.
Equipe Profil Skate
Racers using old SNS system boots with the one-bar Profil outsole will require these bindings to remain compatible. Newer SNS Pilot system boots will also fit in this binding.
Rottefella's last screw in binding before the introduction of the NIS plate, the R3 is still a viable option for racers on NNN system boots and flat top skis who do not wish to use a screw-in NIS plate.
Sport Pilot Skate
We recommend the Sport Pilot Skate to newer racers and recreational skiers on SNS Pilot system boots due to its lower price point and automatic release system.
We recommend the Exercise Skate binding to newer racers and recreational skiers on NNN system boots.
For young skiers on SNS system boots for both skating and classic skiing; manual closure.
Xcelerator Jr Skate
For young skiers on NNN system boots and NIS skis; manual closure.
